Billions of improper COVID-19 employee retention credit (ERC) payments have been issued by the federal government. In order to combat ERC fraud, the IRS is significantly increasing examinations of pending and paid ERC claims. The IRS also provides programs for taxpayers to withdraw or return improper ERC claims. This webinar reviews how to deal with these situations with the goal of minimizing the risks and financial impacts to the business and its owners.

Learning Objectives:

  • Apply statute of limitations provisions to both pending and problem ERC claims.

  • Explain issues likely to be reviewed in an IRS ERC examination.

  • Describe current IRS programs available to withdraw pending ERC claims.

  • Describe current IRS programs available to repay ERC claims.
